Post-embolization syndrome (abdominal pain, nausea, emesis, and fever) is the most common adverse effect of liver embolotherapy and is the primary reason for post-procedure hospitalization. Liwei Jiang, MD, discusses a new study that links cirrhosis with the severity of post-embolization syndrome after bland hepatic artery embolization. The findings may help select patients for early discharge after the procedure.
